Dare to Bleed Emily Sullivan Series Book 1 edition by Mary Whitten Paranormal Romance eBooks

This book was utterly ridiculous, and I am not sure why I finished it other than I kept expecting it to get better.

Emily did not make sense. Ever. Her reactions to the situations she was put in made zero sense. For starters, instead of being scared for her life like a normal person when being attacked, she got annoyed at her attackers and got mad at them for wasting her time. What? In what world is that the right reaction to someone trying to kill you? She also never seemed to take anything seriously, and seemed to make her decisions based on doing exactly the opposite of what everyone thought was the best course of action. I feel like trusting the FBI agents around you to do their jobs is a smart course of action, but what do I know? Oh, and when someone that she had known for years says "Oh, by the way I am a vampire, too," she didn't even bat an eyelash, instead she just thought, "why have I never noticed before that this person is hot?" *Shakes my head*

The romance in this book was awful, too. Emily and Ezra couldn't go 2 minutes without getting super angry at each other and one of them storming away in a huff. Real mature right there. Let's not be honest with this person that I supposed love even though I know next to nothing about them and try to work things out like adults, no let's just act like angry children and run away whenever we disagree about things. Dumb.

Also, who is the intended audience for this book? The characters were adults, and Emily definitely had adult thoughts, but they acted like teenagers and barely kissed. I don't have a problem with books that don't go beyond that, even adult books, but it did not feel organic in this one. It felt like the author was trying to write an adult book that could be read by younger audiences too, but she failed to find the right balance, and instead it just came across as unfinished and awkward

All I can say is that I am glad this was a freebie when I got it. I won't be picking up the next one.

Dare to Bleed Emily Sullivan Series Book 1 edition by Mary Whitten Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

Dare to Bleed has left me in a whirlwind of fast paced page turning! From page one I was completely drawn in and couldn't put the book down until I finished!
Emily is loveable and a hilarious character, Mary Whitten did a phenomenal job creating her. Not matter what situation Emily finds herself in she has a--slap your knee--funny way to explain it. Even when her predicament was intense she made me laugh. She is so clumsy and prone to nearly killing herself that it almost seems that her inevitable encounters with the Supernatural world are just another day in the life of Emily Sullivan; and may I add very attractive Supernaturals. I must agree with her best friend Kimmy that it's a "sausage fest"; this book is full of hunky guys that you want to reach through the page and touch them yourself. Who will Emily choose? Read the book and see--you won't be disappointed!
My only negative for this book is the grammar errors. The beginning of the book took off well and slowly faded into multiple grammar mishaps. Although many were easy to understand and didn't affect the flow of reading, some unfortunately made me pause and reread the sentence in order to understand what the writer was trying to say.
However this is the best book I have read since the beloved Fifty Shades of Grey and even better--this book is FREE on !
"Why, Gavin, if we weren't in hell right now I would think you were hitting on me,"
emily is the perfect damsel in distress. she is so very funny. even if you dont really get into the vampire thing, you should read this just for emily alone. she takes everything in stride, and she gets herself into some messed up situations. its an awesome twist from the whole whinny, annoying females found so often in the supernatural genre.this would be an hilariuos movie ) and her best frind kimmy. love!! i rarely laugh out loud at books even when they are supposed to be funny but i did several times with this one. most vamp books are so serious , life or death, save the world kind of thing, and this one really help to lighten the tone a little bit. it reminds a little of what would happen if a 22 year old tina fey ever found herself inside a vampire novel. right down to how much emily loves snickers and cake lol and ezra, the hot vampire is a plus and he mad my toes curl a little. and for 99 cents you should give it a try !!
I enjoyed reading this story. It had just the right pace, great suspense and a touch of romance. It had action through and through and I wasn’t bored for a second.

I really liked Emma’s sarcasm and how her mind worked. I was laughing out loud reading her thoughts that Ezra could hear. It was hilarious. She was a little “crazy” but I liked that about her.

Ezra on the other hand started off as a great catch but then had me confused with his moody behavior. I’m still a little suspicious of him as we don’t know who he was talking to on the phone.

Other characters didn’t really come to light for me but I suspect they might get more show time in later books. I’m really excited to read the sequels.
I got this book for free on and really wasn't sure what to expect. I love vampires and hoped this would be a great one. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

The Good I enjoyed Emily's character. She went from normal to special overnight when she learns she's the object of a deranged vampire. She cares for her mother a lot and loves her best friend, Kimmie. She's sworn off guys, yet they haven't sworn off her. The story was engrossing and a quick read.

The Bad Emily was a little flighty. She had kissed all three guys although she really only wanted one. That was a little unrealistic in my opinion. There wasn't really a reason for her behavior either.

The Sexy There are a few steamy scenes, but mostly kissing. There wasn't any sex in the book, just talk about sex. The book was still enough romance to hold my attention)

Overall This was a great read. Fans of vampire books will enjoy this one. This book is recommended for new adults and adults due to some minor sexual situations. I give this book four stars for its ability to draw you in!
